We tried to watch a movie tonight whilst Naina was awake. 3 Idiots - a smash hit new comedy featuring Aamir Khan.
She enjoyed the first fifteen minutes, drinking her milk, kicking her ball, throwing her ball, eating my dinner that was left on the coffee table. She then got stuck behind the TV.

New skills
Naina's learnt the art of the ear piercing scream. I mean ear drum shaking, 120 db, lousy no good neighbours playing music at 3 am and driving hoon cars out the front scream.
I don't think any one could possibly scream louder. It hurts.
We got a new book, Can You Make a Face. She loves it. The play along, the surprised face, the rabbit face, but then, for some reason, when I do the surprised or scared face, she just steps it up a gear and lets some blood curdlers go. Seriously. I have no idea a) how loud she makes it b) how high pitch she makes it and c) how consistent she makes it. And it doesn't seem to tire her out. Even talking loud makes me sleepy.

The ponk game
Naina's picked up that saying "PONK" "PONK" "PONK" means you can bump heads. An example:
Naina's appetite and language
Naina was always a fussy eater. I think I read somewhere that almost all babies are. N prefers loading up on milk and eschewing traditional favourites like meat, sweets and chips. Interesting. We've had stages where we actually forced her to eat something sweet, just to give her a bit of variety.
As of a month ago, the most we could get into her (without pinning her down) was fruit and the occasional piece of meat.
Then something wonderful happened, she started finding food interesting. So fruit juices, parathas, lamb chops, noodles are beginning to get consumed properly, at an increasing rate. I got a call today from Deepti saying N had eaten a whole paratha herself (small one albeit). And a lamb chop was almost completely digested today as well, as well as loads of pasta yesterday.
Going along at the same pace, her language skills have picked up as well. Naina tore her Makka Pakka book (seen unwrapping in video below). I took it away to repair and she chased me saying "Parna" "Parna" which means "want to read".
Actually impressed at how much she's paying attention. She knows exactly what I do when I wake up each morning, bathroom, shower, brush teeth, bye and follows me around (including banging on toilet door). Then in the evening, the routines are well known - time in front of TV, TV goes off for dinner (finds it unusual when TV is on), drags (or attempts to) drag her high chair into place, eats contentedly, asks (or points) for a tissue, wipes her face, goes and sits for her milk, bangs on the gate to go upstairs, sits in the computer room, jumps around in the computer room and then drags mummy to bedroom or goes and grabs her pouch if she feels inclined to sleep that way.
This comes as a relief, after N went through a two week "terrible twos" period. She seems calmer now than before, perhaps because she's vocalising better, and clearer and eating well as well. We had biting, pinching and kicking for a few weeks there, that raised the BP a bit.
Its great to see her calm down, learn to dance better (with more actions, such as changing the lighbulb) and getting on with being a kid. Maybe she knows that daycare is around the corner... bwahaha...
